Cake Pops 3 - Lions.

Adam just turned 4 and we had a big party for him and his friends who all turn 4 around the same time.  It was a jungle themed party which gave me the perfect excuse to make the lion cake pops from Bakerella's book.

I still can't coat the cake pops perfectly like Bakerella's pictures but I was still delighted by how they came out and the kids all seemed to love them.

  3. Your pops are fantastic! I can't get my coating that smooth either, how does she do it? I have the book but haven't really got stuck in yet although I really should. I think your pops are perfect. x

  4. Thank you BG and Perfect.
The photos in the book are all too good to be true! But then, on the other hand, I have still been very pleased with how they have come out so I am very glad I bought it.

  5. i'm so impressed... i've seen this book and been to her website a few times and her work is very impressive, and even though she makes it look easy I imagine you need a bit of patience and a steady hand...these look bloody excellent... what cake did you use?

  6. Dom - I used two Mcvities chocolate loafs (I think I would feel depressed making a cake and then just crumbling it) and Betty Crocker frosting pre-made out of the supermarket as well. I think if you're going to spend ages doing this, it's fine to cheat on the first bit! This one was the nicest tasting one as the coating was peanut butter flavour and it's peanut butter chips too which go so well with the chocolate cake and frosting.

  10. They look great! I found that the best way to make them look so smooth is all in the type of candy melts you use. I have used the wilton candy melts and they work fine, but I just switched to merckens candy melts and the difference is amazing!! The coating comes out way smoother and just looks cleaner! :)
